Sundance Day 4- Jail Bait with Jim Carey and Ewan McGregor.
Our fourth day of Sundance coverage continues- with what I call a marathon of films. We have been so busy meeting people and letting everyone know about Jaman- that we didn’t have enough time to stop and smell the roses- or in this case watch films with incredible actors, directors that may not make it to a theater near you. That’s why there is Jaman- there’s a great chance that the film that I’m sitting it- will be on Jaman within months if we’re lucky.
Our first film is I Love You Phillip Morris by directors Glenn Ficarra (Bad Santa) and John Requa starring Jim Carey, Ewan McGregor, Leslie Mann and Rodrigo Santoro and in case you were wondering- we actually bought tickets to the film. The house was packed for a film with a subject line of- two men meet in jail and embark on an adventure together. It had the star power of both McGregor and Carey and delivered on every point.
The story itself starts off in Texas, where a local policeman, Steve Russell (Carey) goes from making small modest personal investments to make a living. Oh did I forget to leave out that these small investments are illegal and that he comes out of the closet. While in Jail Steve meets Phillip Morris (McGregor), a blonde hair, blued eye pretty face who trusts everyone, who only committed the crime of not returning a rental car. They manage to get out of jail and start a new life- with trust and without lies- well thats what Phillip thinks.

The cast is incredible and even though Rodrigo Santoro was in it for a hot minute- he also held his weight among these big wigs.

We stayed for the Q&A- “Have you thought of casting a gay male to play the lead” Carey answered “How do you know one of us aren’t.”
