Lindsay Lohan rules the small screen

I just heard that Paramount is in talks with a video game company to make games for Clueless, Mean Girls and Pretty in Pink for the Nintendo DS.
I’m going to get an Nintendo DS.

Why should I care about Lindsay Lohan? What’s next, Britney updates?

Ok, I must admit, I’ve never seen Mean Girls, I just see Ms. Lohan on the cover of various magazines of ill-repute at the checkout aisle.
So again I ask, (this time with genuine interest), why should I care about Lindsay Lohan?

well though she’s making more waves on tabloids lately than in cineplexes - you have to see Mean Girls to really get it. She has a pop off the screen charm sort of thing like Marilyn Monroe did in All About Eve. Actresses with that sort of shine on screen are rare and Mean Girls is the film where she really shines. Well there and Ugly Betty(and like emchy I am also a big fan). You should totally check it out.

Marilyn Monroe? Wow. I knew she was challenging Monroe’s promiscuity records, but never acting chops.
I suppose I can’t have a problem with a movie I haven’t seen, so I’ll check it out when I have 2 hours I feel like filling with some high school drama.

Obviously this Harrison character has been living under a rock. He must be at least 49 with a pop culture rating of 1 or perhaps 2. He is also blindly unaware that Mean Girls have grossed over $129 Million Worldwide, and the fact that it brought in over $24 Million opening weekend. Lindsey Lohan brings in box office numbers and although she has had problems in her personal life- it sells. If she is on a cover- there is a reason for that- People and USWEEKLY know what people want. We are also a nation obsessed with celebrity.
Continue to watch your FOX NEWS and Bill O’Reilly- I wouldn’t want to disturb the nature of your upbringing.

“People and USWEEKLY know what people want” This is true, but ‘people’ also like McDonalds, “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader” and Budweiser. I know it did well at the box office, I’m just saying it looks like a lot of other empty movies.
Perhaps my pop culture rating is 1 or 2, I think that in light of the products of our ‘pop culture’, 1 or 2 might be a favorable score. I’m not the biggest of Fox News fans, and I don’t think too highly of Bill O’Reilly, but I think American culture, education and general outlook on life would be greatly improved if we paid more attention to news and less to the latest celebrity shitshow.

What possibly could Bill O’Reilly and Fox news, or for that matter, pop culture, have to do with a lack of interest in Linsey Lohan? Who could possibly care about her and her antics except someone with an intelligence index of 1 or 2? The fact that Addijam connected the two says something about his habits — how about some actual reading? There are other things to look at than US magazine. The fact that her antics actually display disease doesn’t help. Addijam may want to feed into those aspects of American culture, but I certainly don’t.

And as a P.S. — Addijams problems with age are just the sort of thing that makes parts of american culture so disreptuable about the world. And by the way, those opening weekend numbers are not good, nor are the world totals. In fact they are very poor. At least that says something about the taste of people and “popular culture.” How irritating.

hmmmm…I’d have to argue that intelligence and pop culture awareness are by no means mutually exclusive.
Back to the original question posed by JHarrison: You should care about Lindsey Lohan because DESPITE all of the drama going on in her personal life, she is an incredibly talented actress. Sure, she’s made some bad choices (and had paparazzi there to broadcast every misstep along the way), but she’s also made some great films. Prior to Mean Girls, she was precocious and adorable in The Parent Trap (doubly so). I agree completely with the comparison to Marilyn Monroe: Lohan too is supremely watchable and compelling, even when the project she chooses might not be (ie ‘I Know Who Killed Me’…bleagh).
